There have been quite a few pretty things arriving in this house over past weeks:
My new (to me) Crown Devon ‘Stockholm’ pattern cup + tv plate and jug, both gifts for my 40th. I have long been a fan but get regularly frustrated by attempting to bid for pieces on Ebay, lucky me that someone (thanks A & J!) did it for me 🙂
The jug is now hanging out on our new shelves in the living room, next to some critters by Chico Bicalho that I once brought back for the boys from a trip to the Design Museum in London. As you’ll understand when I do get around to posting about our house renovations, I am more excited than I can say to be able to display things on shelves, it’s been a long time coming.
Beautiful laser cut cards by Skinny Laminx, now living on the freshly painted mantelpiece.
And finally, a necklace, also bought for my 40th, but this time with money I was given. I fell in love with this on a recent blogpost over at Silverpebbles and dashed over to Emma’s shop to buy it. I have been holding on to my money since March, waiting for something suitable to spend it on and this is just perfect.
This last photo is Emma’s, so much better than the one I’ve taken and lets you see all the detail. I especially love that Emma gave all the history she’d found out about the vintage locket on her Etsy shop listing and the beautiful little flower Emma has made plus the peridot and vintage pearl make it a great addition to my (small, but beautifully formed) jewellery collection.
That is all, just a few things I wanted to share whilst I remember.
Gosh I’m tired at the moment. Really, really tired, as in could fall asleep whenever I sit down for more than a few seconds tired. Like most people (I suppose) I find it quite difficult to get motivated when I feel like this, so I am working on projects where I know what I’m doing, and it’s just a question of getting it done, I’m also trying to finish up some open projects and working on my ‘get ahead for Christmas’ list.
I created this list a while back in an attempt to lessen the panic over summer holidays that my busy shop season is looming and I’m not nearly ready. Last year was a great improvement, I managed to get quite a lot of stock ready over summer, but I still found myself working up against it over September and October, this is the first season with both boys in school, so I’m hoping to improve even more on last year. I’ve been sewing these little robins for some time now, a bit at a time, and I’ve finally mounted them on their cards and packed them away (except for one set that need to be photographed for listing as there are a few changes from last year’s robins), phew, another one to tick off the list. I’ve also been choosing ribbons for some new lavender birds. I love this job, it always cheers me up; I used to keep my ribbons loose in boxes (organised by colour) but they were always getting tangled and I use quite large quantities so now I mainly buy them by the reel.
Finally, there has been lots of house DIY, laying some flooring, and generally tidying things away and getting pictures up on the walls (hey, it’s only been 6 years waiting!). I started a few ‘our house’ posts some time ago (in fact over a year ago) which I hope to share soon, I’m quite proud of all the work we’ve put into creating our home and it has been a long process, with quite a few things still to do but we are getting there. Lot’s to come, I just need to get motivated 🙂
